This study focuses on the cost-effective and non-destructive high-quality of modified magnetic mesoporous iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) used for latent fingerprints examination (LFPs). The Fe3O4 NPs were synthesized using the co-precipitation method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), EDX elemental analysis, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The analysis successfully established its ferromagnetic nature and showed the spherical shape. The synthesized nanoparticles showed excellent magnetic recovery and a good fingerprint revelation on different support compared to commercially available fingerprinting examination powder.
