This article argues that the socialization of the digital generation unfolds as a complex, dialectical negotiation between the liberating fluidity of digital environments and the persistent—though transformed—human search for meaning, stability, and structure. As traditional agents of socialization lose their centrality, digital domains have emerged as the primary arenas in which identities, social bonds, and normative frameworks are constructed. Yet this shift produces an inherently unstable and fragmented social landscape. Addressing a gap in current scholarship, which often treats digital socialization either as emancipatory or as destabilizing, this article examines how individuals simultaneously navigate both tendencies within the conditions of liquid modernity. The analysis proceeds by first outlining the theoretical foundations of liquid modernity, then exploring the core mechanisms of digital socialization, and finally assessing the implications of these dynamics for individual agency and the future configuration of social life.
