Authors : Louennas Haoues .

Abstract

Cheikh Fodil El Ouartilani was one of the earliest advocates of reformist ideology within Cheikh Abdelhamid Ibn Badis's battalion. He promoted reformist principles through both discourse and action. Ibn Badis sent him with the first groups to confront France on its own turf in an effort to protect Algerian immigrants from Westernization, Francization and a loss of identity. Consequently, El Ouartilani laid the groundwork for institutional work within the diaspora through the El Tahdhib club, which quickly spread to various French cities. El Ouartilani was a pioneer of the El Taraki Club, the first bastion of reform in Algeria. He recognized the significant impact of this approach in raising awareness among Algerians, and in a short period, he made a big impact in France through his knowledge of the Algerian diaspora. He went on to attract Europeans, as well as various Arab and Muslim communities in France
