The Role Of Pragmatism In The Child’s Social And Moral Development

Authors : Neffai Wardia .

Abstract

Philosophy and psychology are two closely related disciplines, due to the overlap in their subject matter. This explains why psychology was the last science to separate from philosophy, which occurred in the late 19th century when it established its own methodology and boundaries, distinguishing it from philosophical inquiry. Recently, there has been a renewed convergence between the two fields, giving rise to the concept of philosophy of education, which is based on applying philosophical thought to educational practices. This paper explores the impact of philosophy on the social and moral development of the child . The study aims to examine various theoretical frameworks that link philosophical critical thinking with the developmental stages of the child, in order to explore the advantages and disadvantages of applying critical thinking to children.
