Authors : Benkheznadji Amina . Gaidi Khemissi .

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the attractiveness of Algeria’s investment climate for foreign direct investment (FDI) during the period 2016–2024, using a set of international indicators of FDI attractiveness. The findings show that, despite Algeria’s strong indicators in the energy and natural-resources sectors, its overall investment environment still records weak performance across the majority of indicators (over 60%), with a considerable share performing at an average level (around 30%), while high-quality indicators account for no more than 5%. This pattern reflects persistent structural challenges in institutional, logistical, legal, and governance dimensions factors that are essential for attracting and sustaining foreign direct investment.
