Methodological Procedures In Contrastive Linguistics: Correlative Considerations

Abstract

The Saussurian dichotomy ‘langue vs. parole uncovers, within the field of contrastive linguistics, the existence of the language level and of the subcorpora level; two levels where placements are realized. With the methodological principles in general and the principles of homogeneity in particular elaborated by Pan and Tham (2007), this study seeks to establish links between items at language level and at subcorpora level. Thanks to the descriptive approach, the five placements identified at each level result in the establishment of seven correlations; some as being simple and others as being complex.
