Abstract
Pablo Neruda’s Twenty Love Poems and A Song of Despair (1924) is a compilation of verses that established him as a quintessential poet of love; these poems illustrate his inclination for joy and dedication to life. These poems are written in a personal voice and depict his individual experiences. Neruda’s poetry on love is sensual, passionate, sad, and delicate and it denotes writing and thinking about the love is serving as a means of escaping from loneliness. By highlighting the worth of genuineness in love, the significance of its pain, and the universality of human experience, these poems demonstrate a profound comprehension of the human condition. Through the critical analysis method, this study examines how Neruda’s poetry portrays his love with in-depth and elegant words and also it explores how the poet conveys the intensity, passion, and complexity of love. Through the poems, Neruda denotes that the beauty and complexity of love is impermanence and it emphasizes that loss and suffering are common in human experience that go beyond social and cultural divides.
