Investigating The Decrease In The Literature Reading Habits Among Students Of English As A Foreign Language

Abstract
This paper isintended to investigate the decrease in literature reading habits among third year LMD students at Skikda University. It aims at finding the main factors underlying this decrease in order to suggest some guidelines for promoting the reading of Literature. It is by the means of a questionnaire administered to third year LMD students that we have tried to answer the paper’s questions. The discussion of the results has shown that the students daily activities of watching televising and using the internet do really jeopardize their reading habits along with their lack of motivation and literature teaching methods are the main factors underlying the decrease of the students' literature habits, besides to other factors according to students perception that are highlighted in this paper. Eventually, this study contains some recommendations and suggestions that may serve for the creation of lifelong readers and lovers of literature.
