Abstract: Emmanuel Levinas sees the great task of our time as re-evaluating the relationship between Jewish thought and Western philosophy, aiming to integrate these two fields rather than maintaining their traditional separation. Through this approach, he highlights the importance of individuality and the unique moral responsibility that cannot be replaced. Levinas seeks to develop a Jewish philosophy that transcends tradition and offers new solutions to contemporary challenges, emphasizing the tension between ethics and politics. He rejects the politicization of ethics or the moral justification of politics and critiques the tendency of democratic systems toward authoritarianism. In his quest to establish new political ethics, Levinas presents a distinct path for contemporary political thought, upholding pluralism and avoiding extremism.
