The safety and security of artifacts in museums hinge on the principle of non-contact; repeated handling can lead to their permanent loss. However, this poses a significant challenge for visitors with special needs, particularly the blind, whose primary means of understanding and imagining objects is through touch. Museum modeling offers a powerful solution to this dilemma. By utilizing techniques and tools to create physical or virtual experiences that simulate or simplify museum content, modeling can significantly enhance visitor engagement. This includes providing 3D printed replicas for tactile exploration, incorporating digital modeling and virtual reality (VR), and adopting a user-centered design approach. These methods create an inclusive educational and recreational environment, allowing People with visual impairments visitors to experience and connect with artifacts in a meaningful way, all while ensuring the preservation of the original pieces.
