Abstract: The Mu'tazilite and Ash'arite sects are among the most prominent Islamic sects, not because they adopted the science of kalam in defending the faith against atheists, heretics, and heresy, but because they provoked different reactions from other Islamic currents, whether jurists or philosophical kalamists. There is no doubt that the rational approach of each of them in understanding and interpreting issues of unseen faith was the main reason that created confusion among the public and responses from jurists and kalam scholars. Although the Mu'tazilites were the first to appear, the spread of their doctrine and thought in Andalusia was limited due to the Sunni Malikit doctrinal nature opposed to philosophical and rational ideas. in constrast, the Ash'ariyya enjoyed a wider spread due to its proximity and consistency with the Sunni approach adhering to the apparent of texts, especially since this trend was supported by the Umayid princes and caliphs who considered the Malikit doctrine as the only religious and political authority for the people of Andalusia. This research is a history of the two most important movements in the history of Islamic thought, in which we traced how and how the Mu'tazilites and Ash'arites entered Andalusia, their most important figures and their activities, then the attitude of both jurists, the authority and the public towards their beliefs, and the attitude of Muslim philosophers such as Ibn Rushd and non-Muslims such as Maimonides towards their approach, and the most important issues of disagreement and criticism directed against them, then the fate of their thought, we focused on the period between the 5th and 6th centuries, 11-12th centuries AD for political considerations, and we focused on the period of the 5th century. 6 AH/11-12 CE for political and intellectual considerations, the first being the rule of the two greatest states, the Almoravids and the Almohads, and the second being the emergence of Ibn Rushd as the greatest Muslim philosopher in Andalusia, who had decisive opinions about these two doctrines.
