The Russian invasion of Ukraine has raised complex legal issues concerning the interpretation of international law and the UN Charter, particularly the principle of the non-use of force. Russia claims its actions fall under the right of self-defense, while many international actors view it as a clear violation of international law amounting to aggression. This crisis prompts critical questions about the legality of the invasion and whether Russia bears international responsibility. Moreover, it highlights the limitations of the international legal system in addressing such conflicts.
Russian invasion, international law, UN Charter, self-defense, international responsibility.
