Takaful insurance services have emerged as a basic pillar in the context of the modern economic arrangement. Like most nations globally, Algeria has embarked on the introduction of Islamic financial services as part of its reform program, coupled with Executive Decree No. 21-81 determining the conditions and modalities of participation in Takaful insurance, represented a great leap forward in the evolution of the insurance system. These legal developments widely opened the door for the establishment of Islamic-formula insurance companies, represented by Takaful firms. These companies have demonstrated their profitability and effectiveness as a promising and viable alternative to conventional commercial insurance. This article aims to assess the role of Takaful insurance institutions as a strategic alternative to commercial insurance institutions in Algeria, through an in-depth case study of "El djazair Takaful" company, which serves as a pioneering model embodying the potential and successes of this type of insurance in the Algerian market.
