As the English Navy defeated the Spanish Armada and European powers kept being reported as leading enterprises exploring successfully far overseas lands, the English felt likewise increasingly heartened to make voyages of their own up to America as well as the Far East with determined economic or nationalistic aims. This heartening and the rationale behind English oceanic navigation crystallized in the complied epic English literature exposed by Richard Hakluyt whose ultimate aspiration was seeing England not only superseding Spain and the other preponderant powers, as the top maritime commercial power, but also heading up the European trend of expansionism as the uppermost ruler diffusing home religion and culture as far as possible across the globe.
