This study examines the paradoxical role of Islamic banking in enhancing household resilience amid persistent inflation in Algeria. While Islamic finance is grounded in principles of equity, risk-sharing, and social justice, the empirical reality reveals that its products often remain more expensive than their conventional counterparts. Drawing on a multidisciplinary framework that integrates Islamic finance theory, household economics, and financial inclusion, the paper investigates how the perceived high cost of Islamic financial products affects households’ willingness and ability to adopt them as tools for coping with inflationary pressures. Findings suggest that although Islamic banks provide ethically compliant alternatives to interest-based finance, pricing mechanisms—driven by operational costs, regulatory constraints, and limited competition—undermine accessibility for average households. This cost-related barrier reduces the potential contribution of Islamic banking to economic resilience and inclusion. The paper concludes that improving cost efficiency, transparency, and financial literacy are key policy priorities for strengthening the real socioeconomic impact of Islamic finance in Algeria’s inflationary environment.
