The Sixth Wilaya of the historical Algerian resistance witnessed fierce battles against the French enemy from 1956 to 1962. The Third Region had a significant share of these battles due to its location, which included major mountain ranges, most notably Mount Boukhil, extending from Djelfa to the borders of Biskra. Among the major confrontations against the enemy, three decisive battles emerged as pivotal turning points in the course of the liberation revolution in the region. These included the battles of Dallaj 197 (1957), Sefsefifa (1959), and the 48-hour battle of 1961. The outcomes of these battles had far-reaching consequences that reshaped the course of events across the entire Sixth Wilaya.
