Authors : Qadri Tarak .

Abstract

Technological advancements in the field of electronic communications have enabled human interaction and the easy and convenient conduct of transactions. The use of such technologies has facilitated the efficient delivery of healthcare services, the development of intellectual property, and advancements in various other fields. Information networks and electronic data interchange systems represent an application of modern technological use in the realm of communications. However, this technology may be misused, thereby posing a threat to public safety and the national interest. While modern electronic means of communication allow for the swift and reliable execution of financial transactions, the use of these methods is not without risk. Some criminals may exploit these means to commit crimes through fraud or by infringing upon the privacy of users and the confidentiality of their transactions. Although technological progress has sought to combat crimes in the field of communications by resorting to encryption to maintain confidentiality, such measures have at times enabled perpetrators to exploit these procedures by using communication methods that are difficult to penetrate or monitor. This means that technological advancement has provided criminals with powerful and practical tools to perpetrate their offences.
