Traditional Algerian rural pottery in general, and pottery from the Khenchela region in particular, is characterized by various decorative aspects, most of which are symbols inspired by ancient art, as evidenced by their presence on certain cave drawings and engravings dating from the prehistoric period. They are also found on ancient North African pottery, and archaeologists believe that the decorations used to adorn the pottery were inspired by nature and the letters derived from the tifinagh alphabet. These are the same decorative motifs that can still be found today on the region's traditional pottery. These symbols can be found on a variety of traditional products, including home decorations, traditional pottery and even female tattoos, all of which have their own connotations. In this work, we will attempt to give some symbolic connotations to these decorative elements, characteristic of this rural society, through the craft of pottery from the Khenchela region
