This study explores the post-COVID-19 economic implications for Malaysia, with a focus on the Asnaf (zakat recipients) and the B40 low-income group. In this context, Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Rakyat), as a fully integrated Islamic cooperative bank, has played a vital role in supporting vulnerable groups through zakat-based initiatives such as RAKYATpreneur and UNIpreneur. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach by reviewing literature on Islamic social finance and analyzing the effectiveness of these initiatives in fulfilling the objectives of Islamic banks, namely contributing to society and promoting economic development. Findings reveal that shifting zakat distribution from a consumptive to a productive model enhances economic returns and ensures long-term sustainability. Furthermore, the study proposes the use of the Qard Hasan (benevolent loan) contract in microfinance to secure sustainable cash flow for entrepreneurs, thereby strengthening the continuity of small and medium enterprises and improving their resilience against future crises.
