The teacher training program involves grasping theoretical concepts and applying them in teaching during in-service to develop and demonstrate practical principles linked to practice gradually. However, novice teachers may struggle to bridge the gap between the theory they learn and its application in the real classroom. Practice can be involved in the initial training period through a well-framed induction program before being hired to their jobs so that future teachers can be equipped with the necessary teaching skills and pedagogical knowledge to succeed and enter the teaching profession with sufficient teaching expertise. With this in mind, any induction program should consider the importance of the practicum in bridging the gap between theory and practice in teaching, particularly in English Foreign Language Teaching (EFLT). This article aims to shed light on the preparation of primary school EFL teachers in Algeria and how training them to use appropriate methods, approaches and techniques with beginners at this sensitive time of life is crucial. As the Montessori Method has proved its worth in many educational contexts, it is high time to introduce it into the initial training of teachers of English as a foreign language to offer a holistic, student-centred approach and to enable future teachers to understand and manipulate the various teaching materials that aim to foster children's acquisition of language.
