The Horse In Sufi Heritage:boundaries Of Reality And Legendary Imagination

Authors : Sergma Achour .

Abstract

This research attempts to shed light on the theme of horses in Sufi heritage through a number of poetic examples from popular colloquial poetry in Algeria. It seeks to provide a clear vision of the great presence of talk about them and their celebration by Malhoun poets, whether in relation to the diversity of their names or mentioning their descriptions; or the matters related to them that horses are decorated with. Poets also talk about the relationship of Sufi sheikhs or disciples with them. Perhaps the poets start in this celebration of horses from a religious or realistic reference that makes this animal a means of decoration or war; in addition to its well-known functions in daily life alongside camels, mules and donkeys.
