Abstract This article examines the role of nonverbal communication within organizational settings and clarifies how it complements verbal communication. The contribution is conceptual rather than empirical, given the relative scarcity of organizational studies focused specifically on nonverbal communication. Nonverbal cues — gestures, posture, facial expressions, eye contact, proxemics, and vocal tone — play a central role in conveying emotions, signaling personality traits and social status, and revealing the intentions that accompany spoken discourse. In organizational environments, overall performance is intertwined with communicative effectiveness understood as the interplay of verbal and nonverbal dimensions. Misaligned or misinterpreted nonverbal signals may generate misunderstanding, strained relations, weakened cohesion, and diminished engagement. In light of these insights, organizations should devote greater attention to nonverbal communication — notably through training and awareness programs — to help employees decode and regulate nonverbal behavior, reduce communicative failures, and foster a coherent, functional climate.
