Abstract: Agriculture constitutes the fundamental pillar and the primary sector of the economy. It has remained, since antiquity, a central concern of societies, serving as a source of their social and political stability and as a field in which cultural distinctiveness was expressed. Archaeological and literary studies have revealed that its roots go back to the fourth millennium BCE, as evidenced by the use of stone and metal tools and the reliance on available natural resources, which contributed to the diversification of agricultural production. This development continued into the period of the national kingdoms, particularly after the unification of Numidia. The kingdom experienced significant progress in agricultural tools thanks to the attention of its rulers, especially Masinissa, and through their benefit from Carthaginian expertise and commercial interaction across the Mediterranean basin. These factors enhanced the advancement of agricultural exploitation techniques such as tools for sowing, plowing, and harvesting, along with the construction of wells and reservoirs for irrigation management. As a result, agricultural production increased, particularly cereals like wheat and barley, as well as fruit-bearing trees such as olive and vine. This transformation established the region as an economic hub that played important commercial and cultural roles over extended periods.
