Authors : Betaina Malika .

Abstract

Algeria is keen to expand the scope of social protection, so the legislator enacted the death grant for salaried workers in social security legislation as a mechanism for insuring against the risk of death in social insurance law, with the aim of securing the rights holders of the insured and ensuring their continued livelihood. The death grant is a lump sum paid equally to the rights holders of the insured after his death by the National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAS), according to controls specified by the legislator, some of which relate to the insured in terms of the duration and his professional status before his death, and others relate to determining the beneficiaries among his rights holders, how to determine its value and disbursement, as well as the procedures for obtaining it. The legislator seeks with these legal provisions to embody social justice and the principle of social security in society.
