This article explores the impact of the blue economy on economic growth across eleven African countries, focusing on fisheries and aquaculture production during the period 1992-2022. A feasible GLS model was estimated in order to take into account for cross section dependence and autocorrelation problems. The findings reveal that fisheries and aquaculture significantly contribute to economic growth. Trade has a positive impact as well, while inflation negatively affect growth. Despite their critical role in food security, job creation, and economic stability, fisheries and aquaculture remain underdeveloped and underfunded, hindered by challenges such as ecosystem degradation and water pollution.
