Abstract In this article, we analyze the current situation of tajmaat in Kabyle society, using the village of Aguentour in At Mlikech as an example. The question we raise concerns the fate of this traditional body. Through an anthropological study based on open and semi-structured interviews, we have found that tajmaat has managed to preserve its role, despite undergoing certain transformations and a moderate decline in its influence. As far as its future is concerned, the inhabitants envisage its transformation into an association to better represent their voices to the local authorities. Résumé Dans cet article, nous analysons la situation actuelle de tajmaat dans la société kabyle, en prenant pour exemple le village d'Aguentour à At Mlikech. La question que nous posons concerne le destin de cette instance traditionnelle. À travers une étude anthropologique où nous avons privilégié les entretiens ouverts et semi-directifs, nous avons constaté que tajmaât a su préserver son rôle, bien qu'elle ait subi certaines transformations et un recul modéré de son influence. En ce qui concerne son avenir, les habitants envisagent sa transformation vers une association pour mieux représenter leurs voix auprès des autorités locales.
