The growth of host nations is being increasingly influenced by foreign direct investments (FDI). In this sense, improving appeal has started to be a clear goal of economic policy in both rich and poor nations. This paper intends to find all the elements that could account for the changing flow of foreign direct investment into the Maghreb nations. Through an econometric panel data analysis performed on a sample of three Maghreb countriesAlgeria, Morocco, and Tunisiacovering the period from 1975 to 2022, the emphasis is on the macroeconomic elements of foreign direct investments. While GDP per capita, inflation rate, credit extended to the private sector, infrastructure endowment, enrollment rate, and currency value do not have any major impact, our results showed that the level of economic openness helps to make FDI in these nations more appealing.
