The world is witnessing rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, raising questions about the necessity of granting robots legal personality to regulate their liability. Proponents argue that robots, with their autonomy and learning capabilities, require legal recognition similar to corporate entities, as recommended by the European Parliament in 2017. Conversely, opponents reject this notion, asserting that robots are mere tools whose creators should bear responsibility for their actions. If legal recognition is granted, clear regulations must be established to define robot liabilities without disrupting the legal system, ensuring a legal framework that safeguards rights and protects society from potential risks of this technological evolution.
