Coherence And Harmony And Their Impact On The Cohesion Of The Contemporary Narrative Text – The Granada Trilogy As A Model

Abstract
Linguistics has seen wide openness to various fields, resulting in the emergence of several important sciences, including geographic linguistics, psycholinguistics, and discourse analysis. Discourse analysis focuses on criteria such as coherence and cohesion. This research explores the relationship between coherence and cohesion in their theoretical and applied dimensions. It first outlines the theoretical dimension by defining these concepts as they appear in discourse analysis. The research then analyzes the impact of these factors on the cohesion of contemporary narrative texts, using examples from Radwa Ashour's trilogy "Granada" to demonstrate how coherence and cohesion are intertwined concepts with a significant impact on narrative text cohesion.
