Abstract: Small-sided games are among the modern applications in soccer training and have gained significant attention from academic researchers. This study aims to shed light on small-sided games as a new approach in the physical preparation of soccer players by relying on both direct and indirect reviews of previous studies, examining their concepts, practical principles, and technical and physiological characteristics. The study concludes with defining the concept of small-sided games and outlining the conditions for their use, which must be considered by the physical trainer in the preparation process. These include the relationship between playing area and number of players, work and rest durations, playing conditions, coach encouragement, and the availability of balls within the playing area. Additionally, the study provides tables that assist the physical trainer in regulating training load when using small-sided games
