Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this study was to investigate the concept and current state of policies regarding the use of social networking sites in higher education institutions, with the aim of proposing a model for such policies, specifically addressing their use by students and faculty members. The study employed survey and analytical methods to gather data and analyze the prevailing practices. The findings indicated that the concept of a usage policy is centered on the establishment of guidelines that regulate this usage and the nature of formal interactions with these platforms. However, such a policy is not yet clearly defined or implemented in a structured manner within the institutions. Based on these outcomes, the study proceeded to develop a novel model for the policy governing the use of social networking sites in higher education settings. الملخص: هدفت الدراسة إلى تقصي مفهوم وواقع سياسة استخدام مواقع الشبكات الاجتماعية في مؤسسات التعليم العالي، مع اقتراح نموذج لسياسة استخدام تلك المواقع في هذه المؤسسات من قِبَل الطلبة وأعضاء هيئة التدريس فيها. استخدمت الدراسة أسلوب الاستقصاء والتحليل، توصلت الدراسة إلى ان مفهوم سياسة الاستخدام يتمثل في اعتماد قواعد تنظم هذا الاستخدام وطبيعة التفاعل رسميا معه، وهو امر غير موجود الى الان بصوره واضحه، ثم عمدت الدراسة الى صياغة نموذج لسياسة استخدام مواقع الشبكات الاجتماعية في التعليم العالي.
