The present study explores customs related to anthroponyms within family and village contexts and identifies factors influencing surname choices, including cultural influences. It highlights how personal names are shaped by societal beliefs and traditions and discusses the changes in Kabyle names over time. To achieve the aim of this study, a descriptive approach was adopted and a corpus composed of names from various villages such as Sahel, Wizgan, Ahriq, Ihitoussen, Tabouda, Igreb, Abourghes, Hijeb, and Tazrout was analyzed. The results indicate that the use of names among the Kabyles reflects a complex blend of traditions, social and administrative changes, and external influences. Furthermore, the research also emphasizes the role of names in shaping individual identities and their integration into the group, reflecting the tribe's collective identity and social relationships; since understanding the evolution of personal names offers insights into Kabyle culture and its interaction with contemporary social changes.
