Abstract

This paper identifies various factors that encourage individuals to engage in psychological discussions on social media. The study focuses on factors such as the level of psychological interest, confidence in psychological information, and perceptions regarding the systems of psychological healthcare. Based on testing those factors, the findings indicate that psychological interest can predict engagement; people interested in psychology are likely to engage in online discussions. Moreover, confidence in one’s knowledge and the openness of healthcare workers to engage in psychological talk encourage people to talk. Although the findings support that confidence in one’s abilities improves engagement, a negative attitude towards health care reduces it. These results form the basis of knowledge of increasing people’s engagement in psychological discourse in digital environments.
