Orientalism contributed to forming a lucid and dissimilar picture of Islamic studies. It is, therefore, likely that orientalists who studied Islamic history in general and Algerian history in particular aimed mainly at recognizing the reality of such a history and understanding the Algerian personality in addition to the extent to which Muslim Algerians are connected to their history. That represents the straightforward way to identify the strengths and the weaknesses which helps penetrating in the depth of Islamic studies. The focus of orientalism was put on studying Arab Islamic figures throughout history in order to identify the poles who laid the foundations of the Islamic state. In effect, orientalists were interested in studying certain Arab icons that had an impact on building the Islamic history for instance; Salahuddin Al Ayyubi, the hero of the Crusades and the strongest figure in the Arab East (The Middle East) and Prince Abdul Qadir, the strongest Islamic figure In the Arab West (The Maghreb).
