Our study aims to clarify the role of scientific research in the development of the renewable energy sector. Scientific research is considered a crucial element for acquiring and advancing technologies, innovating in knowledge development, improving energy efficiency and effectiveness, and developing various technologies related to renewable energy sources, In our study, we relied on the descriptive and analytical approach. We have found from our study that the development of renewable energy technologies cannot occur without sufficient investment in scientific research and collaboration between universities, research centers, and sectors of production. Our study has shown that the economic situation of Arab countries, where the expenditure on scientific research does not exceed 1% of the total GDP, is weak. In contrast, advanced countries like the United States, China, and others have strong economic positions due to their focus on research and development, allocating a larger percentage of their expenditure to it.
