Abstract
Abstract :The book ‘The Mirror’ by Hamdan Khoja , which was published after the French occupation of Algeria in 1833, is about a person who lived the pains and hopes of the period, as he was one of the notables of the city of Algiers who tasted the bitterness of the occupation, and was a witness to that abhorrent and important period of our national history. The book is divided into two parts; the first part presents the cultural, social and political history of Algeria in a detailed and accurate manner. The second part deals with the reasons behind the French invasion of Algeria, and details the landing of French troops in Sidi Fredj. The book also includes important details about Islamic Awqaf and islamic documents. Hence, Algeria's past was not devoid of historians who left us rich sources, and The book ‘The Mirror’ is one of those sources, and is a witness to the last period of Ottoman rule in Algeria. The objectives of this study are to identify the method adopted by the author in his book, trying to highlight the characteristics of his method, its advantages and its defects and shortcomings. تتناول هذه الدراسة كتاب " المرآة" لحمدان بن عثمان خوجة، الذي صدر عقب الاحتلال الفرنسي للجزائر سنة1833م، مؤلف هذا الكتاب عايش الاحتلال، إذ كان من أعيان مدينة الجزائر، وذاق مرارة الاحتلال، وكان شاهدا على تلك الفترة المقيتة والهامة من التاريخ الوطني، وكتاب المرآة ينقسم الى جزئيين؛ عرض في الجزء الأول تاريخ الجرائر الثقافي والاجتماعي والسياسي بشكل مفصل ودقيق. أما الجزء الثاني فيتناول أسباب الغرو الفرنسي للجرائر ، وتفاصيل عن نزول القوات الفرنسية في سيدي فرج،كما يضم الكتاب تفاصيل مهمة عن الأوقاف والوثائق الاسلامية، ومن هنا فان ماضي الجزائر لم يكن خاليا من المؤرخين الذين تركوا لنا مآثر غنية. وكتاب المرآة واحدة من تلك المصادر، وهو شاهد على الفترة الأخيرة من الحكم العثماني للجزائر أما عن الاهداف المتوخاة من هذه الدراسة هو الوقوف على المنهج الذي اعتمده المؤلف في كتابه هذا محاولين إبراز خصائص هذا المنهج بإيجابياته وعيوبه ونقائصه. الكلمات المفتاحية: المنهج؛ التاريخي؛ المرآة ؛ عثمان خوجة؛ الاستعمار الفرنسي؛ الجزائر؛ منهج الكتابة التاريخية.
