Forecasting Renewable Electricity Generation In Algeria Using Cobb-douglas Model

Authors : Bougueroua Mariem .

Abstract

This study employs the Cobb-Douglas model to analyze and forecast renewable electricity generation in Algeria, using data from 1990 to 2022. The model estimates the impact of gross capital formation, labor productivity, and annual precipitation on renewable energy output. The results indicate that both capital formation and labor productivity have a significant and positive effect on renewable electricity generation, with labor productivity exhibiting the strongest impact. Precipitation also shows a positive but marginally significant influence. The model also forecasts renewable electricity generation until 2030, helping policymakers in planning the Algeria’s electricity generation mix.
