This paper examines the pedagogical strategies employed in the teaching of French for Specific Purposes (FSP) within the context of military education, with a particular focus on the training of cadets in an Algerian military academy. The primary objective is to investigate the challenges encountered by language instructors and to identify effective practices that address the specific linguistic and professional needs of cadets preparing for military careers. In order to achieve this goal, a qualitative research design was adopted. Data were collected through classroom observations, informal interviews with instructors, and a descriptive analysis of instructional materials and learners language tasks. The findings reveal that teaching FSP in a military environment demands more than linguistic competence; it requires a thorough understanding of military discourse, codes of conduct, and communicative situations specific to military life. Teachers must adapt their strategies to foster not only language acquisition but also discipline, clarity, and operational relevance. The results underscore the importance of providing targeted teacher training programs focused on military-specific pedagogy, as well as the development of didactic materials that reflect real-life scenarios and tasks encountered in military contexts. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the value of learner engagement through authentic communicative tasks and simulations that mirror military missions. These insights contribute to the broader field of FSP by shedding light on a relatively underexplored but strategically significant learning environment. The paper concludes with pedagogical recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of FSP instruction in military institutions and supporting language instructors in designing context-appropriate, goal-oriented teaching approaches
