Abstract

This paper develops a framework for an Agent-Based Model (ABM) of a dry bulk shipping market, aiming to enhance our understanding of market dynamics. The study begins by outlining the fundamentals of the dry bulk shipping sector. It then examines the ABM methodology, emphasizing its suitability for modelling decentralized decision-making. Building on these foundations, the paper proposes a structured framework for an ABM that captures freight rate negotiations, vessel movements, In order to analyse the effects of external factors, including regulatory changes, climate policies, and economic fluctuations, on market behaviour.
