The green economy is economic activity “that results in improved human well-being and social equity while significantly reducing environmental risks and resource scarcity”. This economic model obeys the rules, principles and criteria of sustainable development. Other economic models can sometimes be described as gray or black; leading to pollution, waste and/or exhaustion of non-renewable resources, and destruction of the environment, or red in the case where we profit from the sale of weapons for example. Above all, the green economy is linked to respect for nature and seeks to maintain natural capital in balance ; not to consume more resources than what ecosystems, the Earth and the Sun can provide , while maintaining ecosystem services equitably available for all and for future generations).
