To encourage entrepreneurship and economic development, Algeria has adopted several strategies, including the creation of a legal framework related to self-employed contractors. This framework officially organizes various freelance and individual activities, whether related to digitization, technology, and audiovisual communication services (i.e., new professions), or freelance activities previously practiced by individuals who could be described as contractors but had no legal status. Law No. 22-23, which includes the basic law for self-employed contractors, aims to establish a legal and financial status for freelancers. This is intended to reduce informally practiced activities while at the same time making it easier for young people to access the labor market through self-employment and integrating activities outside the formal economy. This study aims to present the provisions of the basic law for self-employed contractors and clarify its regulatory provisions.
