Khalil’s Reliance On Some Of The Scientists Of The School Of Thought In The Terminology Of The Summary, And The Reason For That

Authors : Khamra Allal . Djerradi Mohammed .

Abstract

Sheikh Khalil’s Mukhtasar stands as one of the foundational texts in the Maliki school of thought, widely recognized as a comprehensive summary of its jurisprudence. It has garnered exceptional attention and scholarly engagement, being preserved, studied, and annotated extensively. Despite its concise and cryptic style, the text has spread widely, particularly in the Islamic West. The Mukhtasar's reliance on the works of four Maliki scholars—Al-Lakhmi, Ibn Yunus, Ibn Rushd, and Al-Maziri—highlights their pivotal roles in shaping the school’s jurisprudential framework. These scholars were contemporaneous and geographically proximate, complementing each other’s efforts to create a robust foundation for the Maliki tradition. Their integrated contributions demonstrate a harmonious synthesis of jurisprudential refinement, organization, and interpretation, ensuring their enduring influence on Maliki legal thought.
