Digital Media Literacy As A Mechanism For Developing Digital Awareness Among University Students In The Virtual Environment -proposed Framework

Abstract
This research paper aims to shed light on the importance of digital media literacy as a mechanism for enhancing digital awareness among university students in the virtual context. The study proposes a framework to implement this approach within the university system, considering that universities serve as spaces where students learn the foundations, principles, and requirements of digital media literacy in the current era. Through digital media literacy, students become capable of analyzing content, evaluating its credibility, and avoiding fake news and misinformation, contributing to the development of an informed generation capable of making sound decisions. Additionally, this literacy fosters critical thinking skills, protects privacy, and develops digital identity, thereby preparing students for a successful academic and professional future while enabling them to contribute positively and responsibly to their digital communities
