Patterns Of Attributing Academic Success And Failure Among Students Of Physical And Sports Activities Sciences And Techniques.

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the patterns of attributing academic success and failure among students of Physical and Sports Activities Sciences and Techniques at Setif 2 University. The researcher used the descriptive method, applying the causal attribution scale developed by Lefcourt, which consists of 24 items: measuring causal attribution for success experiences, measuring causal attribution for failure experiences. The study was applied to a sample of 540 students, chosen randomly. The results showed that there are differences among students in patterns of attributing success and failure attributed to specialization and academic performance. The results indicated that the study participants attributed success to internal factors such as ability and effort, while they attributed failure experiences to unstable factors such as effort, luck, and help from others.
