The article explores the role of Islamic Sukuk in addressing Nigeria's severe infrastructure deficit. It details the evolution and significance of Sukuk as a Sharia-compliant alternative to traditional bonds, focusing on Nigeria's adoption since 2013. By analyzing sovereign Sukuk issuances, the article highlights their effectiveness in financing large-scale road projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Over five issuances, Sukuk-funded projects have developed 2,820 km of roads, improved connectivity, and spurred economic activities. Despite progress, Nigeria's infrastructure remains below global benchmarks, emphasizing the need for innovative and sustained financing strategies.
