Since the official announcement of the NEPAD Initiative, dozens, if not hundreds, of analyzes and writings have been published at the individual and institutional levels for analysis. These analyzes have ranged between those who see it as a project for a new internal and external partnership that carries political realism that heralds its success, and those who see it as nothing more than an embodiment of what the continent is suffering from as a result of new colonialism. This study focuses mainly on analyzes related to good governance and its review through the peer review mechanism, its relationship to the role of the state and the general intellectual framework of the initiative. As for the African vision for the peer review mechanism, which is charged with monitoring and evaluating good governance in African countries, many issues and questions arise about the prospects of this mechanism, and the extent of its contribution to strengthening good governance in the countries of the continent.
