Abstract
Abstract: This research paper aims to explain the concept of alimony and its ruling, In Islamic jurisprudence and Algerian family law, this paper concluded that maintenance is obligatory for the wife from her husband, once the valid marriage contract is concluded. The woman also has the right to demand childbirth expenses, as they are elements of maintenance. The amount of maintenance is according to the husband’s ability, whether easy or difficult, and the wife’s condition, provided that it is not less than the sufficiency level.
