Abstract
Within the arena of literary theory, approaches to the issue of authorship started swinging like a pendulum; however, Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault emerged as influential figures with their respective theories that cast doubt on the prevailing opinion that views the author as the final arbiter of meaning and stress the importance of evaluating texts on their own merits. In this regard, this endeavour examines these arguments within Kate Atkinson’s marvel novel Life After Life (2013) which offers a unique narrative experimentation and unravels multiple layers of reality questioning the conventional conceptions of the author's intent and the interpretive authority.
