الملخص

تعرض هذه الدراسة أحد حلقات الصراع بين العالم الإسلامي،والعالم المسيحي في العصر الحديث بحوض البحر المتوسط من خلال معركة ليبانت التاريخية، حيث كان فتح العثمانيين لقبرص سببا مباشرا لها وهو ما اعتبرته البابوية خطرا كبير يهدد المسيحية والعالم المسيحي فعملت على حشد الدول الأوربية من خلال جهود البابا بيوس الخامس بهدف تكوين حلف مقدس لشن هجوم بحري على الدولة العثمانية . This study presents one of the episodes of the conflict between the Islamic world and the Christian world in the modern era in the Mediterranean basin through the historical Battle of Lepanto, where the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus was a direct cause of it, which the papacy considered a great danger threatening Christianity and the Christian world, so it worked to mobilize the European countries through the efforts of Pope Pius V with the aim of forming a holy alliance to launch a naval attack on the Ottoman Empire.
