Historical Methodological Study of assassination by poison in the Umayyad era (41-132 AH - 661-750 AD) Through some Arab Islamic sources (People whose cause of death differs among historians as Model) Abstract The issue if assassination was considered one of phenomena which exists in all times. The Islamic history also witnessed many cases if assassination whether in the era of the Prophet Mohammad (may God’s blessing and peace be upon him) or in the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. There are many methods that use in assassination such direct killing, torture, poison, or otherwise. There are many people whether from the companions of the Prophet Mohammad (may God’s blessing and peace be upon him), or from his followers, or from Umayyad's caliphs themselves whom the Umayyad’s rulers or princes accused of assassinated by poison in Umayyads era, in particular for political reasons related to their opposition to the Umayyad's rule, or for their fear from the ambition of these people and their aspiration to assume the position of caliphate in addition to the struggle for power within the Umayyad’s family itself. The study deals methodologically with the narratives of five historians lived in the third and fourth centuries A.H/ ninth and tenth A.D, they are: Muhammad ibn Sa` (died: 230 E.C/ 845 A.D Al-Balāḏerī, Ahmad ibn Yahya (died: 279 E.C /892 A.D), Al-Ya‘qūb, Ahmad ibn Ya‘qūb, (died. 284 .E.C/ 897 A.D), "Tārīkh al-Ya‘qūbī, Al-Ṭabarī, Muhamad in Jareer, (died: 310 E.C /923 A.D). Al-Mas`udi, ‘Ali ibn Al-Hasan, (died. 346 E.C/ 957 A.D), "Muruj Al-Dhab wa Ma`adin Al-Jawhar", from the issue of accusations against the Umayyads of assassinating ten of of important people, where these historians reported different accounts according to what mentioned in those sources.
